ART FOR HEALTH: Meeting contemporary art and women's health July 16-18, 2008 Christie's Italy - Piazza Navona, 114 Rome, Italy. Auction of the artwork by Elisabetta Farina for the project: "A mobile boat clinic for the Mosquitia, Honduras" Worldwide one child dies every three seconds and one women dies every minute due to causes related to pregnancy and delivery. This represents an unacceptable toll. The Art for Health project of the Department of Reproductive Health and Research in the World Health Organization (WHO) aims to contribute to women's health in an innovative way: contemporary art which catches people's interest in a direct and passionate way. Using a style originally developed during the Pop Art movement, Elisabetta Farina produced a set of paintings portraying positive images of women from diverse ethnic and social backgrounds calling for a unified effort to improve their lives and those of women of present and future generations. IMAGINE Onlus, in collaboration with the World Health Organization is organizing an auction on Wednesday 18 June 2008 to sell the paintings of the Art for Health project in the prestigious Christie's auction center in Rome, Italy. The artwork will be exposed from Monday 16 June to Wednesday 18 June from 10.00 to 13.00 and from 14.00 to 18.00 at Christie's center in Rome. Money raised from this sale will be used by the Department to fund the project entitled "A mobile boat clinic for the Mosquitia, Honduras". The objective of this project is to improve the sanitary and health situation of the local communities in the region of Mosquitia in Honduras particularly that of mothers and children.
